About Havanna

Over 70 years ago, after many failed attempts and frustrations, a small bakery just south of Buenos Aires discovered a unique recipe for alfajores. Havanna was born. Havanna alfajores traditionally combine delicious soft cookies, milk chocolate and mouth-watering dulce de leche or milk caramel inside. To our delight, they have created many other alfajores.

What is an Alfajor?

Alfajores are sweet snacks made with two or sometimes more round cookies with different sweet fillings between them. The filling is usually dulce de leche, although there are a lot of variations. They can be covered with powder sugar (the traditional ones), glazed sugar (Santafesinos or "de nieve"), grated coconut or chocolate. Argentina is today the world's largest consumer of alfajores, both in total numbers and in per capita calculations, being the most common snack for schoolchildren and adults.

    Soft, delicious indulgence

    This is yet the best alfajor Havanna has ever created. Upon unwrapping the paper, the first sense that gets full of the deep dark chocolate sc ent is the smell. Then when biting into it, you notice this alfajor has a thicker top chocolate layer than any other alfahor has ever had. That makes the experience different as well, since you pretty much bite into it by cracking it open. The rich, dark chocolate is soft and it melts in your mouth, so it is not overwhelming or heavy at all. Finally the cookies are also dark chocolate, which makes the full experie ce one that gets you deeply immersed into this dark chocolate perfection.

    Expiration dates of box products

    I received the pack. The products were intact. However when I checked the expiration dates for both products, the dates were within weeks after the products arrived

    Excellent but before you order be careful with the Duties and Taxes to be paid locally!!!

    Really the best alfajor so far tried. Just a pity about the duties and taxes to be paid by the receiver. Have ordered from Belgium and the duties and taxes had to pay were the double of the price of the alfajores so be careful before you order!

    Dark bitter and sweet

    One of the best alfajores in my opinion. Combines dark bitter cacao with sweet cookies with *sweet* dulce de leche inside. Hard to beat! Highly recommended as a dessert or for a gift. Absolutely 5/5 for the products and service.
