In 1899 Costábile Matarazzo, who lived in Maria de Castellabate, a town in Italy, traveled to South America looking for new opportunities. Once in Argentina, Costábile, who knew the taste of good pasta like no other, had the idea of founding a pasta factory that would allow him to relive the moments lived in Italy. Italian knowledge and Argentine wheat would ensure an undisputed success.
In 1942 his family opened the pasta making plant, Matarazzo (Costábile died in 1948). In the face of significant demand from Argentine consumers, Matarazzo grew to become synonymous with Italian pasta in Argentina.
In September 1978, Molinos Río de la Plata acquired the facilities of the pasta processing plant, maintaining the same objective as always: products of excellent quality and a strong orientation to the needs of consumers.
Matarazzo thus became the Argentine pasta, paradigm and reference of our culture and Italian heritage.
