Description

CINNAMON

Cinnamon has been known for thousands of years, its name comes from the Greek word Cinnammon (Kinnamon means "sweet wood"), it is used as a stick or ground and is rich in calcium, fiber, iron and manganese. In addition to its culinary use, it has great therapeutic properties as an antispasmodic and a stimulant of circulatory and digestive functions.

It is an ally in the fight against diabetes, since it has been shown that its regular consumption generates a significant reduction in blood sugar levels in people with type 1 diabetes (isulin-dependent diabetics), triglycerides, bad cholesterol (LDL) and total cholesterol levels. It can also regulate the activity of insulin, helping it to act more effectively. It is also known for its ability to inhibit the growth of bacteria and other microbes, eliminating urinary tract infections.

Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes and is characterized by high blood glucose levels, thirst, and weight loss. For diabetics, high blood glucose levels are lowered using medications such as insulin. It is estimated that some of the new alternative treatments to combat these diagnoses may include cinnamon.

In one of the studies carried out, 60 individuals received different concentrations of cinnamon for 40 days. In all cases, cinnamon reduced fasting serum glucose from 29% to 18%. Clearly this study tells us that cinnamon has a protective effect on blood glucose levels.

In an analysis of 10 different clinical studies, it was observed that taking cinnamon for an average of 14 to 18 weeks, interesting results were obtained in the reduction of plasma glucose levels. In all of these studies Cinnamon had no effect on hemoglobin A1c levels, and improvements in insulin potency were also seen by consuming Cinnamon in the same time interval, helping to mobilize glucose in cells.
