What is an Alfajor?

Alfajores are sweet snacks made by stacking two or sometimes more round cookies with different sweet fillings between them. The filling is usually dulce de leche, although there are a lot of variations. They can be covered with powder sugar (the traditional ones), glazed sugar (Santafesinos or "de nieve"), grated coconut or chocolate. Argentina is today the world's largest consumer of alfajores, both in total numbers and in per capita calculations, being the most common snack for schoolchildren and adults.

    Mini cakes

    Loved how they have all these mini cakes in Argentina called alfajors. All the brands have their versions: chips ahoy, Milka, Bagley, Arcor, Havanna. Great invention and awesome presentation for a sweet bite! Was correctly packed and delivered right to our door within the estimated time. Was a little worried about ordering from abroad initially but you don’t really see any difference... it could have shipped from the states just as well. There’s really no difference and since it’s FedEx the delivery was the same as with other online purchases. We’ll order other mini cakes and dulce de leche sweets soon!
