Mafalda es un ícono de la cultura Argentina, tal como Diego Armando Maradona y el diez, Lionel Messi. Forma parte de la esencia del país, de la misma forma que algunos productos alimenticios como la yerba, el mate, el alfajor y el dulce de leche. Es un personaje que alcanzó fama mundial y conquistó a millones de hispanohablantes de distintas generaciones y culturas.

Mafalda se publicó en 1964. Fue traducida a 30 idiomas y tiene vendidos más de 20 millones de ejemplares en la Argentina. A lo largo de casi diez años, el autor publicó 1928 tiras, que derivaron en algunos libros como: Mafalda (volúmenes 1 al 10) y Toda Mafalda (una recopilación de todas las tiras publicadas) y otros libros con tiras que abarcan temas específicos.

This is a character who achieved world fame and conquered millions of Spanish speakers from different generations and cultures.
