Alfajor Fantoche: The original triple minicake
Did you know that Fantoche is the only brand allowed to use the name ‘alfajor triple' in their creations?

Although the market is full of triple mini cakes, none of these (except for the one mentioned above) can be called that way. Oreo Trilogia, Aguila Minitorta, Tri Shot, Negro 3.0, Bon or Bon 3, Tofi 3X… These are only a few examples of brands that had to find other ways to express that their alfajores are also triple.
A little bit of background:
Fantoche was the first company to create a triple alfajor. It happened during the 1960s, and it was the result of one of the plant tests that were carried out on a daily basis. The alfajor became very popular in the ‘80s, thanks to the word of mouth of those who started trying it. At one point, the demand was so high that Fantoche decided to fully turn to this version and stop producing some of their other alfajores.

They registered the name in 1987, years before Arcor introduced their own triple mini cake, initially called Tatin Triple, in 1992. Days before this release, the owners of Fantoche went to their lawyers and, as a consequence, Arcor had to remove all reference to 'triple' from their products and rename the new alfajor. Since then, in Argentina, the adjective has a single owner.
Currently, Fantoche Triple represents 70% of the sales of alfajores from this brand.
