Christmas Recipes: Pionono!

Christmas is just around the corner, and apart from presents, the only thing we all like the most about it the people we love the most getting together around the table full of our favorite meals. Everyone loves Christmas food!

So we thought: why not start talking about our favorite and most traditional Christmas plates? Here, in Argentina, summer starts just a few days before the 24th. That is why most of our classic and most common meals are fresh and light. We usually enjoy a table full of various and different appetizers and canapés that make you feel like you have three main courses for dinner.

One of them is definitely “Pionono”. A pionono is a like a sweet dough, way thinner than a sponge cake, but very similar in taste. It is usually eaten rolled up, filled with different ingredients meant to please whoever will eat it.

Here we bring you two very easy and different recipes with just a few ingredients to try and choose which is best!

Pionono with tuna:

• One Pionono

• Mayonnaise

• One onion

• One bell pepper

• Olives (optional)

• A can of tuna.

First, you need to cook the onion with the bell pepper for a few minutes and add the tuna to the preparation. Then, spread your preferred amount of mayonnaise on the pionono but have in mind, that it shouldn’t be too dry. After that spread the ingredients you cooked before, and if you like you can add some previously cut olives.

Special tip: Mind the salt! Tuna and olives are salty already, so be careful!

Pionono with Dulce de Leche:

Ingredients:

1-Dulce de Leche

2-One pionono

3- Powdered sugar

This one is as easy as the one before, but for dessert. Spread the Dulce de Leche over the pionono, and roll it carefully. You can also add small pieces of chocolate if you like, or even coat the whole pionono with it. Sprinkle some powdered sugar and you have a sweet and quick option to serve after dinner.

Special tip: If you happen to have Moscato, a few drops of it mixed with the Dulce de Leche or over the pionono. It will taste amazing!

Special tip N°2: Serve it after a few hours in the refrigerator! It will taste better.
