Staying home VS Moving abroad: A love controversy

PICTURE THIS: You fell in love with a foreigner and you’re moving abroad. You’re dreading saying goodbye to friends and family. But there’s one more thing: you’re an Argentinian (or not, maybe you are just living there). Anyway, there’s something else that’s just as hard as starting over: LEAVING MATE & DULCE DE LECHE BEHIND.

That 's right! For someone who has tried the sweet taste of Argentine cookies, bizcochos and alfajores, food is not something to be taken lightly. And when it comes to dulce de leche, the addiction is even greater, as it can be used for lots of delicious snacks like fruits, crepes, pancakes, cakes and even home-made alfajores, because of its thick and firm consistency. It is, after all, a must for teatime. And yerba mate is, indeed, its best companion.

So what happens when an Argentinian unexpectedly falls in love with a German and they decide to live in his home country? Does that have to mean ‘no more Argentine delicacies’?

Well… hear us out: IT DOESN’T! It can work out just fine. This is how it may look:

• WEEK 1: She sadly accepts not to find her favorite treats in drugstores.
• WEEK 2: She's in desperate need of a mate to start off her day, and searches for a solution online.
• 3 to 9 days later, on WEEK 3: The savior box arrives full of tempting and irresistible flavors.

But hey! It's not just a one-way thing. It never is, with candies and chocolates. Because when the German boyfriend tries them, here’s what happens:

• DAY 1: He's overwhelmed by her happiness towards a product.
• DAY 1, MINUTES LATER: He tries it, aiming to understand her excitement.
• DAY 1, SECONDS AFTER THAT: Dulce de leche has a new fan, and Germany has a new dulce de leche addict.
