The Christmas dinner in Argentina: Part II
As we anticipated on our last blog entry, today we will tell you all about our after dinner table on Christmas Eve. Always leave the sweetest part for the end.
Like we mentioned before, holidays season in Argentina lands just at the start of summer. That is the main reason why our dinners are generally on the lighter side of the spectrum. But when we talk about the sweet desserts we overlook those situations and like to go a bit overboard so is probably common to find our after dinner tables full of different types of sweet treats.
Going from small to big if we talk about sizes, the sweet delicious treats that are pretty common to every holiday are definitely the candied and sweetened different kind of dried fruits. Sweetened almonds, peanuts or nuts or coated in chocolate are a fixed element on every family’s table.
On the middle ground we can find nougats, which we talked about on one of our previous posts. The most famous one and an absolute favorite is Mantecol. The magic texture and soft peanut flavor are and undoubted classic.
And last but not least, the biggest and most anticipated star of the night is “Pan Dulce”. You probably heard of it as a “fruitcake” but we have an adapted version that is usually called “Panettone”. A sweet and airy bread full of chocolate chips or candied fruits that steals everyone’s eyes and hearts.
These are a few of the most traditional desserts that you can find on any family table at Christmas Eve, but it is pretty common to find modifications to all of the dishes according to each family taste. Homemade desserts, or ice-cream cakes (remember, it is summer) are also highly consumed on these dates.
We hope you enjoy Christmas Eve, and mostly Christmas food as much as we do! Don’t forget you can find almost all of these sweet treats from everywhere in the world and enjoy a piece of home in your Christmas dinner, here at www.pampadirect.com
