Bonafide began in 1917, when Geraldo Trinks, the son of coffee importers, decided to open a kiosk in Pasaje Güemes, in the heart of downtown Buenos Aires. There he dedicated himself to the sale of coffee and the first roasting machine in the country was installed. That new, whole coffee, without sugar bath and accessible to all pockets made its way, and such was the success of the venture that in order to receive the large number of customers Trinks opened a second place in the same gallery, to which he added the sale of sweets. Geraldo felt the need to give his brand a name that was a reflection of tradition and trust. This is how Bonafide (good faith) emerged, which has since been the symbol and flag of the company.
