Synopsis

José Mujica began his political activism as a young “anarcho” at the age of 14, and since then, he has walked a long and difficult path, always following the road of dignity.

In this warm and illuminating interview, held over two meetings at his home in Rincón del Cerro with María Esther Gilio, Mujica recalls his triumphs and failures, his convictions, honesty, and passion for learning and working. Pepe experienced the glory of popular recognition when, as a young Tupamaro, he took up arms to defend the dream of justice shared by many of his fellow Uruguayans. He also endured the pain and harsh reality of thirteen years in prison.

Between 2010 and 2015, he became President of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay.

Mujica is a remarkable man, unlike any other—inspiring, and standing out in a global society ruled by opportunistic and dishonest politicians.
