La Serenísima was established in 1929 by Antonino Mastellone, a cheese-maker from Sardinia who arrived in Argentina in 1925. Antonio and his brother Giuseppe Mastellone founded Hermanos Mastellone in General Rodríguez, a pampas city west of Buenos Aires, in 1927. La Serenísima became the first in Argentina to provide nutritional facts on each bottle. The company pioneered the sale of lactose-free milk in Argentina in 1984, became the market leader in the sale of yogurt and introduced cultured milk locally, in 1988. La Serenísima also introduced large-scale organic dairy farming in Argentina, in 1994, and became the first to fortify its products with iron sulfate.

The smoothest and sweetest!
La Serenisima is the best brand of Dulce De Leche by far. For those who want to spread it EASILY on ANY type of bread or baked good or crepes, etc., this is the best product because it is incredibly smooth. It is smoother than their Colonial product and sweeter. That means that Colonial is better if you want to eat with a spoon but this one, Classics, is best for spreading and putting it inside or on any baked goods or similar snacks/foods because it is easier to move and by being slightly sweeter, the bread or other food you're putting it on that could overpower the taste and take away some of the sweetness, won't be a problem with this one. Definitely buy the 1kg! Very well worth it! If you're introducing Dulce De Leche for the first time to someone, this would be what you want them to try.
